Heather Glen Country House

The Heather Glen Country House is an elegant late Victorian Mansion set in 2 1/2 acres of old English Gardens.

Situated deep in the beautiful River Eden Valley in the quiet village of Ainstable, yet only a 20 minute drive from the historical City of Carlisle. Built in the 1900’s as a private residence for a Mr. Gill (a local stone mason), The Heather Glen still to this day stands proudly overlooking the village and is a fabulous testament to Victorian architecture.

Recently the Heather Glen has undergone a £500,000 refurbishment, while keeping all of its original character and features, a new 120 seated restaurant and function room has been added.

The property was previously heated with two LPG boiler, in February 2010 Sustaburn supplied and installed an OkoFen 56kW Automatic Wood Pellet Boiler, with a 7t FleXILO Plus pellet store, a 1500 litre buffer store with solar heater exchanger to all for Solar Thermal Panels to be installed in the future, the domestic hot water storage was also increased to 600 litres.

The Bar & Restaurant is open every Friday, Saturday & Sunday for food & drink, and is available for weddings, private parties & functions 7 days a week.
